Kogi Assembly Sacks Speaker, Deputy and Minority Leader

Hon. Godwin Osiyi representing Ogori-magongo has been elected as the new Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly. Hon. John Abah from Ibaji is the new deputy speaker while Hon. James Eneche from Olamaboro is the new Minority leader.

Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal, former Speaker together with his deputy speaker, Aliyu Aku and Minority Leader, Hassan Bello has been removed by the 17 out of 25 members of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

 

The members while addressing the media today at the NUJ Press Centre noted that the Speaker was incompetent to lead the 6th Assembly, he’s greedy, he has betrayed the members of the house.

The new Speaker, Hon Osiyi Godwin Ojo said “We have 25 members at the Kogi State house of assembly and each one of us is a potential speaker.

 

“The former speaker, (Hon Momoh) did not come in as a speaker, somebody was impeached before he came in, so he can also be removed if we are not satisfied with his leadership.

 

The new Deputy Speaker, John Abah representing Ibaji disclosed that “We want to state here that the new development has nothing to do with coming in of the new Governor Elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

 

 

“We have been waiting for long on this matter, we have endured so long and we have unanimously agreed and remove the speaker, his deputy and the minority leader.
