Kogi 2016 Budget Will Make The State Rely Less on Federal Allocation – Awoniyi

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi has described the state year 2016 budget as one that has the capacity to make the state economy absorb the shock that would be occasioned by the fall in oil prices.

Awoniyi stated this in a statement shortly after the budget presentation by the state governor, Capt Idris Wada to the state Assembly members.

The Deputy Governor said aside addressing the completion of all ongoing projects across the state began by the Wada administration, the budget he explained would make the state to be inward looking, without necessarily relying on the federal allocation which he noted is no longer realistic.

Awoniyi described the budget as one that balances human and capital development, commended the state governor for placing the welfare of workers in the state civil service a priority as well as the overall wellbeing of the people of the state.

While nothing that the budget has elements of financial discipline and prudent use of resources, Awoniyi commended the efforts to plug wastages in government business and cut down on government spending to reflect the financial mood facing the country.

Awoniyi urged for all hands to be on deck towards ensuring that the 2016 budget meets the purpose for which it was designed by government to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of the people.

The Deputy Governor described the priority placed on infrastructure, education, health care delivery and job creation by the 2016 budget as heart warming, said the state would be better for it if the budget is well implemented with the help of citizens of the state.
