The late Prince Abubakar Audu was been adjudged the best governor Kogi State ever had This belief holds strong in the minds of all the good people of the state which tribe, party or they belong to and are resident in.in Kogi State, made70s and 80s, and made manifest in the 9

Need I lay bare before you the golden achievements of ex-governor Audu in the history of Kogi State? You go and ask from those that know. His antecedent as an established public servant and politician helped him to achieve these feats. Do you care to know how he made it in Kogi State? You should trace his history to the roles he played in the government of Benue State back in the years. Political antecedents work.

After Audu comes a group of three misfortunes, each bewitching the state in different ways. In 2003, the people welcomed “Changi dole” of Ibrahim Idris, and for 8 solid years, Ibrahim Idris (Ibro) dragged the shinning achievements of Audu through the mud of retrogression. Do you know why? He had no political antecedent! To be fair and square here, Ibro tried his best, even though the allocation was huge enough to transform the state, to have established the Specialist Hospital and the International Market at Felele only. He was followed by another frustration of a leader, Idris Wada. Rather than built at least on the gains of Ibro, Wada went on a stingy spree, making life miserable and the state repugnant. Do you know why? He had no political antecedent! A titular captain that could not repair the roads to his immediate community can never, in my view ever fly even a kite, let alone a helicopter. And to complete the round loop of the group of tyro, accidental politicians without pedigrees and antecedents, Yahaya Bello was belched up. Although he too, like the previous first two, had no antecedent, his desire to haveparticipated in the APC primary election should have informed one of Bello’s desire and readiness to enter politics with a high cap. Worse than the previous two, Bello bastardizes the noble act of governance. Bello doesn’t only show that he is green, jejune and rudderless, he also displays a crude sense of arrogance, wherein he doesn’t pay salaries and goes after those that want to help put in good stead through public criticisms his insensate, helpless government: Austin Usman Okai and Senator Dino Melaye,  for example. He too misfire because has no political antecedent.

Bello embarks on a journey through Kogi East of late on a medical and educational outreach to the General Hospital, Idah and possibly to the Kogi State University, Anyigba, after roasting the people through the furnace of poverty, hunger and frustration as a result of non-payment of salaries. Mr Bello seems to be not only shameless but also ill-advised to have tried to visit the KSU he had closed down for months. Bello got a security report not to go on a tour to Igalaland after distributing customised drugs that were not certified ok for consumption by the NAFDAC at Idah General Hospital. Bello fears insecurity, the condition he himself together with his selfish acolytes created after they refused to pay workers’ salaries and youth took to crime to survive. Bello received award of the best chief security officer of a state, and after establishing an army camp in Kogi Central, Bello still fears security report. If I hear that Bello boy is mature enough to handle his own family, let alone a state. Our good people of Kogi State should therefore overlook the campaign strategies of Mr Bello in the name of clinical and educational tours to the Eastern part of the state since yesterday. A babe and a suckling in government at 40 is a baby forever.

Let us therefore channel our votes and support in favour of a candidate with sterling antecedents, a candidate that has done it before and succeeded. Need I take you to Dekina Local Government and around Okura district to see the good work of Benjamin Ikani Okolo?  Many villages around Ogbogodo Lokoja, Ogbogodo Ojuwo, Itama, Acharu, Ajiyolo, Dekina, Odu and all of the Odus Iyale, etc. have each a touch of his goodness. Given an opportunity again, and he will make it statewide. Let us not be deceived by afternoon politicians who have never helped their immediate neighbours, but want to come and rule us because they feel the state is an ATM point, where they can come from anywhere, withdraw the state’s money and go away. Let us support Benjamin Ikani Okolo, a candidate whose antecedents are fat enough for us to draw our credible conclusion of his capability. Better the Benjamin you know now than the many diaspora politicians who do not know what we feel.
