Igalamela/Odolu: Zakito Urges LG Workers to Support The DLG

The good people of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area have been called upon to cooperate with the new administration of the Area so as to ensure continuous peace and development of the area.

Out-going Chairman of the Council Comrade Zakito Umar made the call while handing over the baton of leadership of the Local Government to the Director of Local Government, Alhaji Onuche Musa Mohammed at the Local Government Secretariat, Ajaka.

Comrade Zakito stated that the handing over has become necessary following the judgment of the State High Court sitting at Koton-Karfe which nullified their elections and also subsequent dissolution of the 21 Local Government Councils by the State Government.

He attributed the success recorded by his administration to the wonderful support and cooperation given him by the people of the area, and urged them to extend the same to the new administration to ensure its success to the benefit of the entire people of the area.

In his acceptance speech, the Director of Local Government (DLG) Alhaji Onuche Musa Mohammed described the turnout of people at the handing and taking over ceremony as an indication of the acceptance of the immediate-past administration of Comrade Zakito, and urged them to extend the same hand of fellowship and cooperation to the new administration to enable him succeed.

He assured that he would operate an open door policy so as to carry the people along in the scheme of things, adding that he would welcome constructive criticism and advice so that they collectively move the Local Government forward.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of other political office holders, the out-gone Secretary to the Local Government Alhaji Aliyu Hawa Musa thanked the people for the opportunity given them to serve within the short period and assured that they would do everything possible to ensure that the new administration continue to build on the legacies of the immediate past administration.
