The Igala community in Anambra state, under the umbrella of Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), has reiterated its commitment to support the administration of Governor Willie Obiano.
The Onuh of Igala, Anambra state, His Majesty, Chief Muhammed Sani Abuka, disclosed this at Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA of Anambra state, during the community’s one-year celebration of the coronation of the first Onuh of Igala in Anambra.
Flanked by his cabinet members, Chief Abdulahi Yanusa and Chief Edili Emmanuel, the Onuh of Igala stated that Igala people in the three zones of Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi, through ICDA, worked fervently for the electoral victory of Governor Obiano, which later yielded fruits.
According to him, the community decided to back Obiano during the polls because it was convinced that Igala people in the state would be happier under Obiano’s government.
He said it would be a way of contributing their quota towards evolving an egalitarian Anambra state, even as they were fighting tirelessly to ensure that the land dispute involving their home state, Kogi and Anambra, was resolved without further delay.
“The peace move, which the people of the old were not able to initiate, will be done without further delay.
“Most of the people residing presently in different communities in Anambra migrated from Kogi. It will not be an overstatement to say that Kogi and Anambra are of the same ancestry; therefore, we cannot afford to continue to fight each other,” he said.
