A Former Executive Chairman of Ogori/Magongo local government area, Kogi State, Honourable Gabriel Daudu has stated his preparedness to ensure fair representation, equity and justice among his people even if it cost his freedom of movement.

Daudu who has been in incarceration for alleged financial recklessness made his position known during the weekend in a welcome rally organised by his people.

Initially sentenced to two years imprisonment, Daudu who has spent more than a year in prison noted that he was able to obtain bail from the Supreme Court after being denied of it at the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal respectively.

He called on the mammoth crowd thronged to receive him in his country home, Magongo to shun acrimony for speedy development, just as he vowed to bridge the palpable marginalisation of his people in the present political dispensation of the state.

“I have no regret going to the prison for my people. You can see the mammoth crowd that came to welcome me today. If I am not an acceptable person, you cannot have this kind of crowd. This implies that something was wrong somewhere. The truth of the matter is that I stand against injustice. I stand for equity, fairness and justice and some persons were not happy with my rising political profile”, he argued.

The National President of Magongo Development Association(MDA), Mr Afunmi Francis while extolling the virtues of Hon. Daudu urged him to take solace in the stories of great leaders of the world who had at one point or the other in their lives, been imprisoned for emancipation of their people.

Mr Francis expressed optimism that Ogori/Magongo will witness a new lease of life with the presence of Hon. Daudu in the political scene of the state.
