Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the rescheduled Senatorial election in Kogi Central, Ahmed Ogembe has received the endorsement of a powerful Ebira socio-cultural group, EPUF to clinch the senatorial seat vacated by Sen. Mohammed Ohiare whose election was nullified by an appellate tribunal in Abuja.

Speaking exclusively to Vanguard in Lokoja, Friday, the spokesman of the group, Joseph Jimoh said the mobilization for the election of Ogembe has started across Ebiraland, describing the business mogul turned politician as a leader who will make Ebira people proud in the Red Chambers.

According to Jimoh, Ohiare reaped the reward of electoral manipulation, urging political parties to always adhere strictly to the rules guiding internal democracy. “Ogembe represents the true spirit of Anebira. He is a freedom fighter and a dogged strategist and believer in justice. For years, he has continued to fight for what is right for the people of Ebira.

“The Ebira People United Front has come out with a resolution to throw its weight behind Ogembe of the PDP due to our conviction that he will make us proud in the senate. “Ogembe has done a lot for the people of Ebira through his philanthropic activities that have helped people and communities. It is our conviction that he would do more for the people of the state if elected senator of the Federal Republic.

“We have started mobilizing our people to see this as an opportunity to reward the man who has done so much for our people. With Ogembe as Senator, the Ebira nation will no doubt, witness radical development, progress and peaceful coexistence”.

Jimoh called on the ousted Senator, Ohiare to close ranks with Ogembe to take the nation to greater heights. In a similar vein, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Progressive Alliance in the last governorship election, Mr. Emmanuel Enesi Ozigi has thrown his weight behind the Senatorial ambition of Ahmed Ogembe.

The property czar told Vanguard that his support for Ogembe was borne out of the need to support competent hands to pilot the affairs of the nation. Ozigi said he will be deploying the entire PPA apparatus to work for the emergence of Ogembe as the next Senator to represent the people of Kogi Central.

On the controversy trailing the recently held governorship election in the state, he said he was disappointed by the conduct of the agencies charged with the responsibility of organizing a free, fair and credible election.

He said the victimization of PPA party agents and supporters during the election will never go unpunished, saying the people will soon know the position of his party on the election. Ozigi promised to soon come up with a platform to actualize some of his campaign promises to the people of the state.
