National Association of Kogi State Medical Students (NAKOMS) has called upon the Kogi State Government and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State Chapter, to put an end to the crisis rocking the doctors on the payroll of Kogi State Civil Service.

In a press release signed by National President of NAKOMS, Comrade Samuel Agada, the group said the ceasefire is imperative so as to prevent further damage already inflicted on the health sector of the state.

“It is alarming to witness such a face off at this time Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole is in need of more workforce in the health sector. This makes a huge dent in the dreams and passion of Kogi Medical Students studying in various medical schools in Nigeria, and in diaspora who have strong intentions of practicing in the State.

“The unnecessary face off has put the Kogi health sector in bad spotlight, creating an avenue for unhealthy attention and criticism. It makes a mockery of the Confluence State, and at the same time putting patients in our care in harm’s way.

“We wish to plead with our elders in the medical field and also the Kogi State Government to bring an end to the impasse, and most importantly, prevent any future occurrence”, he said.
