The Audu/Faleke Political Organization has described the arrest and detention of Mohamned  Audu, son of the late former governor of Kogi State and All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate in the November 21, 2015 governorship election, Prince Abubakar Audu as a provocative act of executive lawlessness aimed at justifying a predetermined goal of creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the state with the Supreme Court judgement approaching.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the group, Duro Meseko said it was the height of provocation and executive rascally for the Yahaya Bello administration to instigate the arrest of Audu’s son by turning a pure family issue to a big political matter.
“We thought the alarm we raised few days ago about plans to arm twist the judiciary with a fake security report would serve to keep the Alhaji Bello’s camp in check but rather it has brought out from them a fresh carefully scripted plan to start indiscriminate arrests of Audu/Faleke supporters ahead of the Supreme Court Judgement to justify the fake security report that there would be anarchy in Kogi if Bello is removed from office.
“We hereby condemn the arrest and detention of Mohammed Audu in its entirety on trumped up charges and call on the Inspector General of Police to advice his men to be very careful in dealing with politically sensitive issues in order not to fall prey to executive manipulation.”
Meseko said it was inexplicable that Mohammed who was attending a session of Sharia Court with other Audu siblings on a family matter would also be present in his home town of Ogbonicha, same day the alleged incident where Audu’s younger brother, Yahaya Audu was alleged to have been attacked occurred.
“Question is why would the confirmation of a posthumous award on Price Abubakar  Audu generate such a bile response from the authorities.
“Should such award be received by Audu’s younger brother or Audu’s siblings? Even if Alhaji Yahaya was to receive the award, should he not have discussed that with the siblings before going ahead to do that?
“So why would Bello and Co not allow the spirit of Prince Audu to rest in his grave with the current arrest and intimidation of his children?
“We make bold to say that no amount of arrest and intimidation can stop our resolve to retrieve back our mandate freely given by the good people of Kogi State from a stranger who worked against our party during the election.
“We advice the police to do their proper homework before arresting people on trumped up charges,” Meseko stressed.
