The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) yesterday suspended its governorship candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Giving reasons for his suspension from the party, the ANPP national chairman, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, said Audu was involved in anti-party activities.
A statement issued by the ANPP national publicity secretary, Hon. Emma Eneukwu last night, stated that the party had received with shock a report credited to Audu’s aide, David Olatunde, which said that the reason why Audu decided to leave the ANPP was because the party had “decided to join President Goodluck Jonathan’s Government of National Unity, not considering that it was an opposition”
“For the records, we wish to state very clearly that no such decision was taken by our great party. In fact, for the avoidance of doubt, our great party has publicly made it clear that we shall not participate in the Government of National Unity.
“This is so because we believe and strongly too, that opposition is the oxygen of democracy. We remain committed to this covenant with the Nigerian people and will do nothing to injure same,” the party stated.
ANPP called on its members across the country to disregard the publication of its alleged involvement in Jonathan’s government, saying that it contained no iota of truth.Share this on WhatsApp
