2015 Elections: Alh Zakari Yau Urges Govt To Ensure Peace

The present administration in Kogi State has been asked to strive towards ensuring peace before, during and after the 2015 general election.

The call was contained in a message delivered by Alhaji Zakari Yau at the Lokoja Central Mosque as part of activities put together to mark the third year anniversary of the present administration in the state. Alh Zakari yau said peace is the ultimate ingredient for development, urged politicians to learn from the experiences of the past, when violence truncated the second republic.

The Cleric urged politicians to caution their supporters on the need for peace and a violence free polls, prayed Allah for a peaceful poll.

The Islamic Cleric charged politicians to play by the rules, stressed that it is Allah who gives power and authority.

Also speaking, Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor, represented by Alh Yabagi Bologi, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, said the present administration has through the help of almighty Allah made substantial progress in governance, by putting its trust in God and the support of the people.

The governor assured that efforts will be made by his administration to continue to make the people’s welfare a priority.

The Governor commended the support he has enjoyed from the people, said he will sustain government effort in providing for the welfare of workers and pensioners, and create the enabling environment for women and the youths in the society.

The Chief Imam of Lokoja, Alh Jimada Shafi, led the congregation in a two raka’at jumat prayer where he prayed for the country and the success of the 2015 general election as well as the administration of Capt Idris Wada.
